We at The Sesame Seed like to eat. And with all these great food trucks from the row in our midst, we have sure eaten a lot of fantastic food. We’ve decided to do a little feature on the food we’ve sampled thus far from these awesome trucks. We’ve included pictures where possible. Other times, our stomachs simply beat us to it.
BASIC KNEADS
Our favorite thus far is this veggie pizza. The walnuts were fantastic on this pie. It may not be on the regular menu. Put in a special request!
BIKER JIM’S
Picking your favorite dog is like picking your favorite child. You don’t want to do it to make the others feel bad but you secretly do have a favorite. Ours is the elk jalapeno cheddar. Shhh don’t tell the others.
CAPT’N CRABBY
Real crab in Colorado? That’s right matey. The huge bite marks indicate this sandwich’s deliciousness.
COACHES SCOOP
Triple chocolate and oreo cookie are enough to send anyone into euphoria but it was the coffee toffee something or other that put us over the top.
CROCK SPOT
This slow cooked goodness saved us one fateful afternoon when we were stranded on the side of the road with our busted truck waiting to be towed.
DENVER CUPCAKE
The thing we sometimes find with cupcakes is bakers focus so much on the icing that they forget about the actual cake. Not the case with these guys. Every single cupcake we’ve had from them has been perfectly moist.
GIGI’s CUPCAKES
On St. Patty’s Day, we watched hundreds of people walk by with their cupcakes before we finally got to sink our teethes into some. That mile high icing was insane. Still get sugar rushes thinking about it.
HEY PB&J
What is a gourmet PB&J you ask? Peaches & Cream up top = almond butter + peach preserves + cream cheese + granola + real peach slices. Barcelona down below = almond butter + date jam + manchego + bacon + onions. Enough said.
KUECHOS
We had to look up the definition for gastronomic. Note to self: gastronomic delight = good eating = jerk pulled pork sliders + banana fritters.
MANNA FROM HEAVEN
We have eaten many a banh mi stuffed with deliciously marinated meats and veggies and perfectly crisp potstickers but do not have a single picture to show for any of them. We have pictures of smoothies and cake balls. Don’t get us wrong, those were terrific, but there’s a reason they’re known for the other stuff. Maybe next time we’ll pull out the camera before we start stuffing our faces.
MESTIZOS
Holy guacamole the lengua tacos are off the hook.
MIKES2 KITCHEN
Shrimp po boy? Yes, please. The critters they use are huge and juicy.
N.Z.’S SMOKIN’ GUNS
Taiwanese people often like to use slightly sweet buns for burgers/sandwiches and this pulled pork sandwich from N.Z.’s brought us back to those good times. The hand-cut fries (literally hand cut — knife + cutting board + one whole ginormous potato) were phenomenal.
PINK TANK
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and you can get all your favorite bfast fixins in this concoction known as the F bomb. Beware, this one isn’t for the faint of heart.
ROUTE 40
The best Argentinean cheesesteak — it ain’t no lie! The grilled steak and veggies combined with pepper jack and chimichurri on that crisp baguette was a party in our mouths.
SOLAR ROAST
We have consumed more liquids from this truck than we’d like to admit. Their frozen drinks have saved us from dehydration on more than one occasion. Our favorites include the pueblo mocha granita and any smoothie (pineapple mango, four berry, peach apricot, strawberry limeade — all good).
VEGAN VAN
If we were to turn vegan, we would do it for Planet Rock. Not quite ready to make that move yet though. We are from Texas after all where meat is the only food group.
